The Development Tours pitch UK and local volunteers together to work closely with the children and teachers from the introduction of the game to the  final tournament, leaving skills and equipment to continue playing tag rugby.

The TRT make a difference to the lives, not only to the children that are coached, but also to the volunteers and friends of the Trust. The Trust is made up of passionate rugby people who know the power the game has to break down barriers and to create life long friendships. Above all, the TRT believe that these positive experiences should not only be for the developed world but to growing “rugby nations” who do not currently have the resources nor the opportunity to introduce children to the game.

Hurstmere School is now running a tour to Zambia every two years, with the next tour taking place in July 2013. It is a very important time for Hurstmere School and the Tag Rugby Trust as February 2012 will see the first Hurstmere School staff visiting Zambia to spend a week working in some of our target schools in the Chilanga area of Zambia. It is hoped that through the work started by the Tag Rugby Trust tours, Hurstmere School will be able to establish permanent links with school in Zambia.

"Koolios, Abel and Enelesophiri then tore apart Zocs with Koolios scoring 3, Abel 1 and Enelesophiri scoring 1. These were the 3 key players for Musamba and were the reasons the school did so well. The celebrations at the end of the game were amazing; it was fantastic to see the Musamba team and their school celebrating the victory- even their teachers couldn't contain themselves! We ran around the pitch singing and dancing. This was brilliant." Diary extract from one of the students who visited Zambia in 2011.
