Bexley Wellbeing Forum Hosted at Hurstmere

Hurstmere recently hosted the Bexley Wellbeing Forum. The Forum meets once a term and is the opportunity for Wellbeing Ambassadors from schools within Bexley to meet, share ideas ,and receive further training. Our Mental Health Ambassadors learnt about the Bexley Junior Citizen Project, which helps prepare Year 6 pupils within the borough for the transition from primary to secondary school. The project runs throughout two weeks in May and during the event our Mental Health Ambassadors will be delivering sessions on Mental Health to the Year 6 pupils.

We were also joined by representatives from Time to Change, a campaign run by mental Health charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness. The campaign is aimed at changing the way we all think and act about mental health problems.  A volunteer, who has recently graduated from university, spoke very powerfully about her journey and the impact on her mental health. Our Ambassadors were also tasked with reviewing Time to Change marketing materials and giving feedback, which will be used to develop the resources.
