Eagle Heights Visit Hurstmere

On Friday the 13th of March we were delighted to welcome Birdman Alan Ames to Hurstmere School.

Alan has spent his whole life pursuing his passion for the natural world and adventure.  Working with schools, TV and film studios to help bring magical, educational experiences to people all over the world.
In 1996 he founded Eagle Heights Bird of Prey Centre in Kent, this has since been changed to a Foundation and will soon achieve charitable status. The Foundation is now run by his children while Alan concentrates on his educational work and projects in Africa.
Alan gave a presentation to Year 7 where the students learnt, not just about the birds, but also about sustainability. They also had the opportunity to meet Sybil the Harris Hawk, Billy Bob the Peregrine Falcon, Sparky the Barn Owl plus everyone's favourite Alaska the Bald Eagle.

It was a truly remarkable day and the students were thoroughly engaged in this wonderful experience.
