Hurstmere School is celebrating after achieving its best ever GCSE results.

85 per cent of students gained at least five A* to C grades with 58 per cent gaining five A* to C grades including Maths and English.

Oustanding pupils included Elliot Roworth, 16, who achieved five A* grades, two A grades and one B.
He was not the only student celebrating as Timothy Dowling, 16, gained three A* grades and five A grades.
Two more pupils who achieved outstanding GCSE results are Jake McGreig and Iain Kemp who both achieved 2A*, 5A and 1B grade. There were nine further boys who gained at least 5 A or A* grades in traditional GCSE subjects: Miles Ashdown, Laurence Cooper, David Discalicau, Sean Fairman, Osenadia Joseph-Ebare, Rory Lever, Jonathan Page, Jack Pierce and Luke Warren.

There were 190 boys who sat exams at the single sex school.

Headteacher Andrew Stringer praised the pupils for their fantastic results.

He said: “Hurstmere boys have achieved the best ever set of GCSE results in the school’s history.”

“There were some outstanding individual successes. Well done to all the boys who received their results.”

An Ofsted inspection in May judged the school as good with many outstanding features.
