Safer Internet Day
Tuesday 7th February 2017 was Safer Internet Day, promoted by the UK Safer Internet Centre. The focus this year was "Be the change. Unite for a better internet". The purpose of the day was to look at the way young people share images online, and ask them to reflect on the potential negative and positive consequences of this. We want to encourage young people to ‘be the change’ and to share, and to help others, share images positively to make the internet a better place.
In the IT & Computer Science department a series of special one off lessons were run to inform the pupils about Safer Internet Day and to try and challenge them to think about what they share online and what the consequences of this can be. Throughout their time at Hurstmere the pupils are taught about the various aspects of staying safe online and using a day like this we can promote this cause even further.
