Art Murals

Art & Design Mural paintings

During Activity Week 2019 19 Year 9 students designed and painted murals in the corridors to enhance the visual environment of Hurstmere.

The boys worked collectively to produce a long corridor piece in Art and Geography. The theme was to reflect ‘Hurstmere Characteristics’ – they discussed what characteristics that Hurstmere pupils value and work towards during their time at the school. These included – humility, confidence, creativity, hygiene, love, health, happiness, resilience, motivation, imagination, thoughtfulness, sense of humour, ambition, smartness and ability to ‘multi-task’! The group designed characters to represent each chosen ‘characteristic’. The piece was then made as a large wall collage – using a mixed-media approach.

The pupils also completely reworked our ‘Art & Music murals to give them a new lease of life.

The ‘Art Department’ mural outside Room 21 was completely redesigned and painted to great effect – special mention to Alfie Burgess year 10, undertook this large-scale task ably assisted by Sonny Smith and Alfie Wade.

Well done and thank you to all participating artists (Alfie Burgess, Shevan Fernando, Alex Willmott, Danny Fitzgerald, Alex Phillips, Julian Doyley, Luca Wilkins, Jake Johnson, AJ Mendez, Alfie Wade, Jack Chapman, Joseph Williams, Matt hew Crickett, Finlay Boyce, Thomas Bateman, Henry Fulcher, Kallum Ali and Sonny Smith.
